This open data file contains the text strings searched in the State Library’s online catalogue each month with the total number of times each text string was searched during the month.
The State Library’s online catalogue is openly available at http://onesearch.slq.qld.gov.au. Users search the catalogue remotely and onsite in the library to find digital and physical collection materials and access subscription databases. State Library collections include photographs, newspapers, video, audio, books, online training, music, maps, 3D objects, journals, websites and more. At the end of the month, the raw search data from the catalogue is exported and analysed to count recurring searches. |

This open dataset contains scores and answers from the State Library of Queensland’s annual Open Data Pathway maturity assessment results. Every year, State Library completes the ODI Open Data Pathway maturity assessment to review the activities of our open data program. The Open Data Pathway is a self-assessment tool developed by the Open Data Institute (ODI) in the UK: http://pathway.theodi.org/
The assessment poses a series of multiple-choice questions based around the themes of Data management processes, Knowledge & skills, Customer support & engagement, Investment & financial performance, and Strategic oversight. The answers we provide allow the tool to score our progress for each theme. These results help to identify areas of improvement and set specific actions to meet our open data goals for the financial year. |

The interactive Indigenous languages map of Queensland provides a snapshot of Queensland languages, including where they were spoken, dialects, sample words, and relevant images contained within State Library’s collection, where possible.
There are over 150 Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander language groups in Queensland. As part of State Library’s Indigenous Languages Project, the Indigenous languages map aims to raise awareness of the diversity of Queensland’s Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander languages and identify resources within State Library collections to support language research and community language revival.
State Library of Queensland supports communities in the revival, documentation and preservation of traditional languages. We acknowledge language heritage and knowledge always remain with the Traditional Owners, Elders, language custodians and other community members of the respective language nation. |

This open data file contains bibliographic metadata for over 600 collection items identified in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander languages at the State Library of Queensland.
The State Library of Queensland is committed to raise awareness and act to preserve and promote Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander languages in Australia. To date, we have identified over 90 Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander languages in more than 600 State Library collection items. These language materials are books, music, computer files, journals, visual works and archival collections. Some materials aren’t found anywhere else.
The metadata in these records is the key to users discovering and accessing the valuable language materials inside and outside the library catalogue. In 2019, the metadata was enhanced with updated reference names and codes as part of the AUSTLANG national code-a-thon. The AUSTLANG database is managed by the Australian Institute of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Studies and includes geographic, historical, classification and research information about each identified Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander language. |

In the period October 1866 to June 1876, the appointments and removals of employees of the Traffic Branch of Queensland Southern and Western Railway were published in the 1876 (vol. 3) edition of the Queensland Legislative Assembly Votes & Proceedings. These indexes collect the names of those employees and present them in two alphabetical listings, one for appointments and one for removals. |

This index lists details of persons called before select committees, royal commissions and boards of enquiry, as published in the Queensland Legislative Assembly Votes and Proceedings from 1860-1901 and the Queensland Parliamentary Papers from 1902-1920. Approximately eight thousand people provided information at these enquiries. They came from a variety of backgrounds, including civil servants, miners, farmers, graziers, labourers, railway employees, publicans, builders, seaman, clergyman and police. |
