The names of holders of victuallers’ licenses (publicans) were printed in the Queensland Government Gazette from July 1900 to July 1914 on an annual basis. Transfer lists were printed as needed throughout the calendar year and entries are included here until 1903, and occasionally to 1914. This index lists information that may be useful for family history or general history research, including names, dates, districts and hotel names. The index currently covers the period from July 1900 to July 1914.
Search the index at the State Library of Queensland in the Family History Indexes on One Search, the library catalogue: http://onesearch.slq.qld.gov.au/
The Queensland Government Gazette can be located in digitised [pdf format] to 1918 on Family History CD ROM, on microfilm at MFL 328.943 and on microfiche at FICHE/B 328.943 QUE on Level 3 of the State Library of Queensland at South Bank, Brisbane.
Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander material is accessed and used in accordance with State Library's Protocols for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Collections.
Members of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities are advised that collections and records may contain names and images of deceased people.
Users should also be aware that certain words, terms or descriptions may be culturally sensitive and may be considered inappropriate today, but may have reflected the author's/creator's attitude or that of the period in which they were written. |

In the period 1890 to 1915, the appointments and removals of Queensland railway employees were listed annually in the Queensland Legislative Assembly Votes & Proceedings. This index collects the names of those employees together with information about locations and job roles.
The original copies of Queensland Legislative Assembly Votes & Proceedings used to create these indexes can be located on microfilm at MFL 328.943 on Level 3 of the State Library of Queensland at South Bank Brisbane. The Queensland Parliamentary Papers for records from 1902 onward are also available on microfilm at MFL 328.9431. |

Nearly 30,000 Queensland soldiers had their portrait taken and published in The Queenslander newspaper before embarkation to World War 1. State Library of Queensland has digitised all of these portraits. Anyone can search, view, add a comment, and download a high resolution digital file of any of the portraits in One Search, our catalogue. To search for an individual soldier, visit our catalogue: http://bit.ly/1fCPFWZ.
We are also working with the National Archives of Australia to match and connect the soldier portraits with their war service record on the Discovering Anzacs website http://discoveringanzacs.naa.gov.au/. Not all soldiers can be matched, but where this is possible a link to their service record is also available.

A unique collection of original maps and plans created by real estate firms from 1850s to mid 1900s from the State Library of Queensland.
The first version of this dataset includes descriptive information and links for 165 digitised maps. The February 2018 version includes descriptions, geographic coordinates and links for 798 digitised maps.
Estate maps can give information about land subdivisions, including how the land was subdivided, when it was first auctioned, who the surveyors were and who sold the land. They are useful for investigating the history of urban land areas.
The maps are predominantly from Brisbane but also cover some regional areas of Queensland such as the Gold and Sunshine Coasts. |

Lists of words from Queensland Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander languages collated by State Library of Queensland through an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander languages project. The lists include body parts in a number of languages – Barunggam, Butchulla, Duungidjawu, Dharumbal, Gooreng Gooreng, Gunggari, Kala Kawaw Ya, Kuku Yalanji, Nggerrikwidhi, Tutubul, Warrgamay, Waka Wakka, Yugarabal, Yuggera and Yugambeh. There are also animal lists, numbers, Torres Strait everyday words and how to say g’day in various languages.
