A historical index of the Queensland Police Gazette Inquests records from 1875-1885.
Inquests were conducted by the coroner to gather information about the cause and circumstances of a death. Reports relating to deaths were compiled by police officers and forwarded to the coroner, who decided whether an inquest was necessary.
This dataset was created from an index of those reports of deaths about which an inquest was held, corrected and enhanced in 2021. The reports include name or surname and given names of the deceased, location of death, a note of other details (i.e. cause of death, date of death, age at death, occupation, etc.), and the date and page of gazette in which it was reported, and the citation of any other published resources consulted.

This open data file contains the text strings searched in the State Library’s online catalogue each month with the total number of times each text string was searched during the month.
The State Library’s online catalogue is openly available at http://onesearch.slq.qld.gov.au. Users search the catalogue remotely and onsite in the library to find digital and physical collection materials and access subscription databases. State Library collections include photographs, newspapers, video, audio, books, online training, music, maps, 3D objects, journals, websites and more. At the end of the month, the raw search data from the catalogue is exported and analysed to count recurring searches. |
